Said, an activist and present at al-Nahda square, gave Al Jazeera his account of the security crackdown on Wednesday morning:

At 6am, a lot of army cars came in front of al-Nahda square and they entered the park, later shooting us with smoke bombs and guns.

They were shooting us as if we were animals. There were children and women amongst us. Of course, the ones that couldn't run were shot and were taken by the police.

Mohammed Ibrahim, the interior minister, is a true lier. He is saying lies. We don't have guns or anything! They are attacking the people! It was 7:30 in the morning!
