The peace of Mecca provides a special kind of sanctuary for some escaping violence back home.

The volcano that is the Middle East is no longer dormant, and as it begins to erupt, those who foolishly continue to try and suppress it eventually burn or melt away.

Why is it that the "international community" continues to do business with a regime which has killed its citizens, attacked journalists, trampled on human rights; and above all never contested a free election?

I arrived in Cairo on Wednesday afternoon, less than 24 hours after tens of thousands of protesters had brought the Egyptian capital to a standstill. I wasn't sure what to expect when I arrived, but I can safely say what I saw was far beyond my imagination.
