Minelle Fernandez


Minelle Fernandez has been working in journalism for almost 20 years. She first started in local radio in Sri Lanka and later switched to television.

Before joining Al Jazeera in 2008, Minelle worked in the Press Office of the Commonwealth Secretariat in London and for the BBC, Washington Post and Singapore Television. 

Minelle won the UN Correspondents Association's Millenium Awards Silver medal in 2000 for a story on Landmine Victims. She also won a Bronze medal at UNCA awards 2010 for an Al Jazeera story on UN engagement in Sri Lanka.
