Three newly reported bomb cases have led to at least five deaths throughout Afghanistan in the past 24 hours, including a Laghman provincial official and a NATO service member.

Sarhadi Zewak, a spokesman for the eastern province of Laghman, said the head of Dawlat Shahi district, died Wednesday when his motorcycle hit a roadside bomb.

The AP news agency is reporting that NATO said a coalition service member had died in a roadside bombing in the south, but that they did not elaborate further.

In a third attack, the Helmand provincial governor's office says three local policemen were killed in the Musa Qala district on Tuesday after a suicide bomber on a motorcycle blew himself up near their vehicle.

Musa Qala is also where four policemen were killed outside the old police headquarters in the southern province yesterday.
