Fighting between Taliban gunmen and Afghan security forces has ended after almost 18 hours, Afghan defence ministry officials have said.

At least 32 fighters and eight members of the security forces were killed during the clashes in the capital, Kabul, and other parts of the country.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the co-ordinated attacks, saying it was the start of its “spring offensive”.
