The New York Times is reporting that people claiming to be affiliated with the Mullah Dadullah Front, the group that claimed responsibility for the assassination of Arsala Rahmani, a top Afghan peace envoy, have threatened members of the Afghan parliament with suicide attacks if they ratify the US-Afghan strategic pact .

The threats have been delivered to various MPs through telephone calls and text messages.

The pact, which charts the future of US-Afghan relations beyond the end of the NATO combat mission in the Central Asian nation in 2014, was signed earlier this month by the Afghan and US presidents during a surprise visit by Barack Obama to the Afghan capital.
