The foreign ministry of Bahrain has joined with those of Qatar and the United Arab Emirates in calling for its citizens to avoid travel to Lebanon, amid increasing security concerns due to the on-going violence in neighbouring Syria.

The northern port city of Tripoli has been particularly hit by clashes in the past week.

Lebanon is divided between the March 14 camp, backed by the US and Saudi Arabia, which is hostile to the Syrian regime, and the March 8 camp, which dominates the government and supported by Syria and Iran.
