Arrests over "invisible ink" pen rumours
Last modified: 16 Jun 2012 18:48
There have been rumours going around Egypt this week about "invisible ink" pens in polling stations. The ink washes away after a few hours, the story goes, allowing election officials to tamper with your ballot.
In an interview on the CBC channel earlier, Hatem Bagato, the secretary-general of the election commission, said that a number of people have been detained for allegedly distributing those pens. Our Cairo producer Adam Makary says there have been 11 arrests across four governorates:
At least 11 people have been rounded up across four governorates over invisible ink claims, eight in #Giza alone. #Egypt (source: MOI)
