Neighbours in the suburb of Attajamo' al-Khamis, in new Cairo region praised Morsi's personality as a leader, apparently confident that he can unite all Egyptians and keep his pledges.

"I want him to be a president for all Egyptians as he has pledged, and I'm confident that he can achieve that," said Doctor Saed al-Hussein, one of Morsi's neighbours.

"I'm sure that Dr. Mohammed Morsi with his enlightened thoughts - he lived in America for several years - will be able to make a balance between modern and civil thoughts, improve tourism, and he will balance it with religion," Amal al-Biri said.
