Thousands have gathered in Tahrir Square on Thursday night, to protest against the military rule.

Potesters chanted the name of Mohammed Morsi, the presidential candidate of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Al Jazeera's Jamal El Shayyal, reporting from Tahrir Square, said that it was the start of "an open-ended sit in, and a prelude to tomorrow's planned demonstrations."
