Local media is reporting that gunmen have entered the offices of Mohammad Akram Khpalwak, the governor of the southwestern province of Farah.

There are reports of ongoing clashes and explosions after a group of suspected bombers and gunmen stormed the building.

"Two insurgent suicide bombers stormed the governor's compound in Farah province," Abdul Raouf Ahmadi, regional police spokesman told the  AFP news agency. "Fighting is ongoing."
