The Associated Press news agency is reporting that a blast in a market in Faryab province has killed nine people, including a local official.

Interior Ministry officials say Monday morning's explosion took place inside a shop in a market in the Ghormuch district of northern Faryab province.

The local official killed in the bomb was from a neighbouring province, according to the Ministry of Interior.
