President Nicolas Sarkozy has confirmed that wounded French reporter Edith Bouvier had crossed into Lebanon from the besieged Syrian city of Homs.
Sarkozy told reporters that he was "very happy that the [reporter's] nightmare had come to an end."
Bouvier had been trapped in Homs along with other Western journalists.

Meanwhile, the UN human rights commissioner has demanded an urgent ceasefire in Syria, accusing the military of atrocities against civilians.
