It has been the worst day of casualties since Israel began bombing Gaza five days ago.

Twelve members of the same family have been killed in a residential area.

Crowds shouted as a rescue worker pulled a small boy from the rubble after a two-storey house was flattened in one of the air strikes.

He was one of four children killed, along with five women and an 80-year-old woman.

Children have paid the heaviest price in the conflict.

Twenty have died in the attacks so far.

More than 750 people have been wounded, and of those more than a third have been children.

Thirty people have been killed on Sunday alone, the largest loss of life in one day since the air strikes began.

Most of the dead are civilians.

In total, 82 Palestinians have been killed in six days of violence - following the deaths of seven civilians on Monday.
