Isreali police have raised the level of alert across the country on Thursday ahead of Land Day, which commemorates the 1976 deaths of six Palestinian Israelis protesting Israeli government land policies, Israeli media reports.
Yochanan Danino, Israel's police commissioner, called on Arab leaders to "show responsibility and coordinate with the police," while asking them to avoid "unnecessary provocations".
Danino said police would allow authorized marches, but would not tolerate violations of the law or road blockages.
