Reuters reports that fighting has broken out between pro-Gaddafi troops and rebels in Zawiyah, a town located 50km outside of Tripoli, the Libyan capital.

A Reuters journalist said he was diverted from accessing the coastal highway connecting Tripoli to Tunisia when he was travelling through Zawiyah on Saturday.
