A local activist group tasked with keeping an eye on police excessive use of force and police violation of people's rights in Oakland, California, identified officers who had infiltrated the Occupy Oakland protest in its first weeks, and captured the officers on video.

Their video (at the bottom of this post) went viral among activists around the world, and one of the officers felt compelled to tell his side of the story.

Oakland police officer Fred Shavies tells his story in the first video below.
