Activists posted a video from Jouret al Shayyah in Homs regarding the grave humanitarian situation in the neighbourhood.

We have translated some of what the narrator says in the video:

This Homs Jouret al-Shayyah , houses are destroyed and set on fire as a result of artillery shelling. Homes are bombarded as we are filming.

Oh, Arab people, look at what have become of Homs; it is totally wrecked, where is Kofi Annan? UN? Observers? Where are the Arabs? People are trapped inside their homes. We are facing a catastrophe, we are out of food, water and electricity.

What goes on here is unbelievable; see for your own eyes. Bashar and his gang have laid siege to the entire Homs. People are living in holes. No powder milk for children. No medical supplies.

Here we are in Jouret al-Shayyah area; as you can see people are spraying some chemical materials, let us ask him: I am spraying benzene as disinfectant, as we have no other chemical material.

Why?

First of all, garbage is accumulating, landfills are far from here. One of my friends was bitten by a fly, he was poisoned. His cheek was first swollen and we assumed it was normal. It turned blue and poisoned. We have no medical supplies or doctors.

We tell Kofi Anan to leave; he has given more time to Bashar. This is what has caused all this. Even women and children are prohibited from leaving the country. Even women are targeted by snipers. Look at what this child has brought; this is the kind of shells Bashar’s Army are using against us.

This child’s brother and cousin were killed by a similar shell. His mother fled; and this child is left alone here. We appeal to Kofi Anan to provide safe exit to children, we, men, can handle it.
