French President Francois Hollande told a Friends of Syria meeting Friday that the UN Security Council must act as quickly as possible to support international envoy Kofi Annan's peace plan.

Hollande told the start of the meeting that "the situation is all the more dangerous as the regime's only strategy is to escalate the massacres", calling on participants to "encourage the UN Security Council to take measures as quickly as possible to support the plan to end the crisis."
