Billy Six, a German freelance journalist who was held in captivity for 12 weeks in Syria, said that he was not mistreated by his captors.

On Wednesday, Six told reporters in Berlin that he entered Syria illegally in August and filed several stories for Junge Freiheit, a German conservative weekly, before being arrested at an army checkpoint in December.

The 26-year-old who was released in Damascus on Tuesday said that he held in solitary confinement for some time, but was never beaten or abused.

Six, who was accused for being a terrorist or spy, was driving in Hama region with his German-Arabic fixer, when their car was stopped by a dozen Syrian soldiers.
