China's foreign minister is meeting with his Syrian counterpart in the latest show of support for Damascus despite Beijing's tentative engagement with the opposition.

The official Xinhua News Agency said Yang Jiechi exchanged views on the latest Syrian developments on Wednesday with Walid Muallem in Beijing.
