Under the slogan "Hama, forgive us," government opponents called for demonstrators to dress in black and to march in honour of the estimated 10,000 to 40,000 people who died in the massacre ordered by the father of President Bashar al-Assad.

Below are videos activists posted of protests that took place today.

The first video is from Homs’ al-Rifai neighbourhood. Protesters are heard chanting: “Curse your soul Russia”.

The second video is from the Damascus Suburbs of Douma. People raised banners apologising for their silence during the Hama Massacre of 1982.

The third video is from Deir Ezzor. Protesters are heard chanting: “Death but not humiliation”.
