A government-sponsored website has confirmed that internet has been disconnected across the country: "The Syrian government has cut off internet service (3G, DSL, Dial-up) all across Syria, including in government institutions."

Witnesses told Al Jazeera that the cuts have affected Damascus, its suburbs and nearby towns; Latakia; parts of Homs and the surrounding areas; all of Deraa and neighbouring villages; Jebleh on the Syrian coast; and Hassake, the main city in northeast Syria.
