Amateur video posted online by Syrian activists appeared to show the presence of heavily armed troops gathering in Damascus.

Footage that emerged on Wednesday also showed armed men firing towards what activists said was a demonstration in the Syrian capital. AP cannot independently verify the date, location or authenticity of this material.
