Syrian SNC president calls for military intervention

Last modified: 4 Sep 2012 06:03

Syrian National Council President Abdul-Baset Seida said on Monday that entire areas of Syria had been razed, leaving at least three millions people without a home.

"They are making use of all kinds of weapons. And there are several regions in Syria that have been razed completely. As I have said we have three million Syrians whose homes were destroyed and are now living as refugees in their own nation," Seida said after meeting Spanish Foreign Minister Manuel Garcia Margallo in Madrid.

"Regarding the intervention I called for, it is a call for a humanitarian intervention. But we, in the Syrian National Council, frankly and clearly say, we request a military intervention to protect the Syrian civilians," Seida said.
