Local residents confirmed that at least six militants were killed early morning Thursday in a US air strike on police station run by the militants in Wadeea district in Abyan province, south Yemen. 

The sources told Al Al Jazeera the air strike targeted dozens of gunmen who were gathered at a police station of Wadeea after they took over it. 

Eyewitness said the police station building is entirely demolished by air strike and dozens of militants had been either killed or injured in this incident. 

He said at least six bodies of killed gunmen were pulled out from ruins until afternoon; the death toll could be climb with ongoing rescue operations.
